Sterile and disposable wound patches belong to the management category of Class II medical devices and are used for the care of superficial wounds such as small wounds, abrasions, and cuts.
Non-sterile, disposable bandages are classified as Class I medical device management. They are used for first aid and temporary bandaging of superficial wounds such as small wounds, abrasions, and cuts.
Both are usually made up of a coated substrate, an absorbent pad, an anti-adhesion layer, and a peelable protective layer in a sheet or roll form. The absorbent pads are generally made of materials that can absorb exudate. The contained ingredients have no pharmacological effects. The contained ingredients cannot be absorbed by the body.
